Perhaps one of the greatest augmented reality (AR) tools that Google has blessed us all with is Google Lens, which lets us superimpose various things into our surroundings using the camera on our smartphones.
Earlier this year, I played around with Google’s AR animals search feature, which let me have basically the entire animal kingdom in my living room. It was fun.
Now Google has added 50 more creatures to its cool AR Search feature.
Hip(po), hip(po), hooray! 🦛 There are 50 new AR animals to discover on Search. Search for your favorite animal on your Google mobile app, tap “View in 3D” to see them in your space and don’t forget to share your best creations with #Google3D. pic.twitter.com/u80Mn7wi1z

Normally I wouldn’t want to have random animals walking around my humble abode. There’s no space for that. But thanks to the wonders of AR, I get to play pretend with all the animals I could ever want to chill out with.
The AR Animals feature came out in 2019, and back then all you had was a basic selection that consisted of creatures like a lion, tiger, wolf, and dog.
But in March 2020, Google added a ton more creatures, totaling up to 25 different animals. This new round of additions adds another 50 animals to that growing list.
However, one thing that sucks is the lack of an official list of animals by Google. It’s all up to you to discover them yourself.
Thankfully, the folks over at Android Police did the hard work and managed to find 48 of the 50 new animals added:
I, for one, wouldn’t mind having an AR giraffe in my living room. Let’s pretend this one is a miniature giraffe:
And despite having two cats at home, I kinda wish I had a dachshund as well. They’re intelligent, adorable creatures:
Which AR animal will you be welcoming into your home?
