If you dive into the settings of your Instagram DMs, you’ll find a new option available – themes.
This represents the perfect way to personalize your conversations with friends, family, and followers.
Additionally, you get to change the accent colors of your DMs as well, allowing you to steer clear of the default colors that Instagram offers.
And it’s pretty straightforward. Here’s how to change things up in your Instagram DMs.
1. Open a DM you want to customize and tap on the information icon on the top right-hand corner (circled in red).
2. Tap on the little circle next to ‘Theme’ (circled in red).
3. Now you can choose whatever theme and accent color you want.
It’s important to note that you can’t combine themes and accent colors. You can only have one or the other, but not both at the same time.

But there’s one important thing to note – The friend in your customized DM will know you changed your theme.
That’s because whatever changes you make will also be reflected on their end. So, if you’ve got friends who don’t particularly like tie dye, they can just as easily change it to something they prefer more. In turn, whatever changes they make will affect you too.
