'กำแพงก๋วยเตี๋ยว' ที่ชาญฉลาดจะหยุดราเม็งถ้วยของคุณจากการสาดหน้าจอโทรศัพท์ของคุณ

So, you’re busy enjoying those cup noodles, when all of a sudden, the broth splatters everywhere as you slurp away. That’s the crappiest feeling in the world.

This clever ‘noodle wall’ from Japan aims to quash all that misery, and it’s only the size of a B5 notebook when folded.

Designed by Japanese company Zyplus, the noodle wall is perhaps one of my favorite new ‘gadgets’ to come out during the COVID-19 pandemic. It’s small, portable, and incredibly versatile in its use.

For instance, you’re working from home and it’s time for your lunch break. You find yourself reaching for that cup of instant ramen because you don’t have the time to cook a proper meal, or maybe you’re just lazy (not judging).

You cozy up in front of your computer or smartphone for a quick lunchtime session of Netflix. But as you’re slurping away at those delicious, piping hot noodles, the broth just splashes everywhere, and your smartphone just so happens to be within splashing distance.

Nobody likes disgusting, grimy broth stains on any of their devices. That’s where the noodle wall comes in handy.

Featuring a transparent smartphone pocket, the noodle wall protects your precious device while still leaving it in full view as you enjoy your ramen.

It’s held up by three walls, ensuring your phone stays upright at all times for maximum viewing pleasure.

And if you’re one of the rare few who still use wired earphones, there’s even a passthrough for that.

But if you need to charge your device while viewing content on it, no worries, there’s a passthrough on the other side of the pocket for a charging cable as well.

It’s not just perfect for Team WFH though. You can even use it at the office, if you’re still working from there, that is.

It folds neatly into the size of a B5 notebook, and it stays flat when stored. This means you can just leave it next to books and other knick knacks already on your workspace.

When in its stowed position, it looks just like a regular office folder. Totally unsuspecting.

It’s also dust and water-resistant, thanks to its PVC coating. The smartphone pocket within the noodle wall itself is made of vinyl as well.

But the noodle wall also has another benefit. It helps block out your surroundings so you can enjoy alone time in peace.

Thanks to the walls inherent in its design, you’re basically shielded from your surroundings. This lets you enjoy your content in peace, with minimal intrusion.

This is especially useful if you work in a busy office environment or a crowded home. I, for one, am planning to get one of these.

It’s selling on Amazon Japan for US$20 (¥2,178).

Will you be adding it to your 2020 Essentials list?
