Always in search of more customization options for your chats? Then you’ll be glad to hear that WhatsApp is introducing new features that will let you spice up your online conversations from person to person and play around with stickers more easily.
For as long as WhatsApp has been around, users have ever only been able to use a single wallpaper for all their chats. But a new update releasing soon will let WhatsApp’s over 2 billion users select a unique wallpaper for each of their chats, essentially allowing you to give each contact a distinct feel and possibly helping you avoid sending the wrong message to the wrong chat.
“Make your chats personal and distinguishable by using a custom wallpaper for your most important chats and favorite people, and you never need worry about sending the wrong message in the wrong chat ever again,” said a Facebook representative in an email sent to The Verge.
The new update also comes with the ability to switch up your wallpapers based on your phone’s current light or dark theme, with custom brightness options also enabled to help you fine tune each chat’s readability.
Finally, there will also be the addition of more color options for the existing Doodle wallpaper plus a selection of new stock wallpapers to choose from, ranging from geometric patterns to architecture, to nature and outdoor scenes, with each separated into Light or Dark albums for use with the new dynamic feature.
Stickers get an upgrade, too.
Aside from the new wallpaper features, WhatsApp is also making it easier to get to your sticker collection by enabling links with emojis, meaning that you’ll only need to type an emoji before seeing a pop up selection of associated stickers that you can pick from.
This new feature mirrors the one already on Telegram, and Facebook hopes sticker creators will adopt it to make looking for stickers easier.
Finally, the new update also gives an animation update to the popular “Together at Home” sticker pack created in conjunction with the World Health Organization earlier this year, with the cute healthcare-themed stickers coming in animated forms – an even cuter way of reminding users to stay safe during the pandemic.
